Thanks!

Hi! I dont have any other beta in that area besides whats in the guide books. But if you need partners im around and looking for steady partners in the area. I'm in C. Falls and can go anywhere and i have the whole summer off so my schedule is open. I am recovering from a back injury 3 weeks ago. I've started climbing again last week and its been good. I'm not the fastest climber so patient is a virtue. I would like to get more crag time. Hit me up and let me know what you're up to.
Cheers

Happy to help, but what exactly do you want to know? Point of Rocks and the surrounding climbing spots up there are better then kila and closer than stone hill. bouldering and roped climbing there.

I'm in whitefish and would be happy to offer up what i know and/or go climbing.

Thanks for the replies Madge and Kevin. I found beta for the stryker/Stillwater crag here on MP (with topo) but no real info on Point of Rocks. Are they the same area? Also, a supertopo thread stated there was a guide at a local shop called RMO in Kalispell. Is that still true?
Any advice is appreciated!
Thanks.

The best climbing around Kalispell/Whitefish is about an 1.5HR north, Lake Kookanusa, Stone Hill.
Kila is ok, for how close it its.

RMO has a single page copy, at least as of the last time I was in there, that only had about a dozen routes. Rumor has it there are close to 100 developed. The Martson area is only a small portion of that area. You around today? Planning on heading out there later today to do some TR solo. Can show you around a bit.

And Josh, everyone knowns Koocanusa is the best around here. I think he is asking for more local stuff...

I also heard someone is developing boulders in bad rock canyon. Apparently there are some topos posted on a facebook group, but I don't have facebook so I haven't been able to check them out.

Thanks Kevin, exactly what I'm looking for. Not in town yet (we are starting the drive from BC tomorrow). Probably get out climbing next week.
When you say 100 routes would that be adding up Marston/Kila/Lost Wall? Is there some other crag that has a great number of routes and is seeing a bunch of development?
I am looking for local areas. We are based at Echo Lake and Lake K is a bit too far.
Bad Rock Canyon sounds interesting...
Thanks!

Several friends & I put up about 20 routes at Point of Rocks in 2010. I live in Morrison, CO now but my friends say that lots of new routes have been put in. It could easily be over 100 by now - there's a lot of different formations to work with. Almost all of the routes we put in were sport w only a couple trad lines. Marston is close to POR. POR is 15 min north of Whitefish, close to Hwy 93. There were about a dozen routes at Marston in 2010.
RMO (Rocky Mountain Outfitter) on Main St Kalispell is definitely the best source for unpublished topo and beta on the area.
That being said - Stone Hill on Lake Kookanusa (1.5 hrs north of Kalispell) has far better rock, hundreds of routes, and published guides.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
