Whats the climbing like? Access, quality, how are the bolts? Is there enough climbing there to keep someone busy for a month or two? Looking for a good surf/climbing winter vacation. Any beta would be awesome.

Some friends and I went last January and had a great time. We were there a week (climbed every day) and didn't even begin to touch all the routes in even one area - and there are several areas to visit. The bolts all seemed fairly new and all that we saw were solid appearing (tried not to test them :)). We left Ohio at 5 below zero and got off in 85 degree temps - so that was pretty nice also.

No access issues except one place we couldn't find the way in without crossing private property - all the rest were easy and open access. Buy the online guides - well worth it.

Never climbed there but have been there 7 or 8 times to surf so i can give you surf beta if needed.

Sweet! Thanks for that. I am very interested. Mac I wouldn't mind getting sprayed with some surf beta. I'm stoked on surfing just about anything. A sweet long left would be perfect though

Been climbing there for years while visiting family. It's great sport climbig on limestone in the Bayamon ii area. Super close to the metropolitan areas. There are also many different places that are getting developed. There's a climbing/canyoneering shop in rio piedras that you can go to and get some beta or buy their guides online. Also there's a ton of boulering in a town called yabucoa, but it's heavily vegetated.

I'll actually be there in 3 weeks and can't wait!

Climbed for a day at Bayamun 2 (Nuevo Bayamun) recently. It is right by San Juan. Access is easy, the limestone is fun. All sport routes. Some bolts are good, some are rusty; bolt spacing is fairly close. Two bolts anchors are the norm. The climbs are 40'-70' in height. When it rains you can climb dry all day in the Hallway area.

Bayamun 2 definitely has a few days or a week worth of climbing. If you're going for a month or two you'll need to find more options.

Email the guys at climbingpr.com, they are nice and will probably help you out.

Thanks for the beta. I will probably be staying for a couple months. Thanks again!

I have spent all of my trips there surfing the NW part of the island: Rincon, Aguadilla, ans Isabela. Often if it is flat in Rincon you can find waves in Isabela. It takes about an hour to go between Rincon and Isabela. I would stay a few days (at least in Rincon). its a super laid back and rural area. the most popular breaks in rincon are Domes and Marias. Once marias starts to get larger (over head) you can move down the point and find less crowded waves in between marias and Steps beach. However, the further down you go, the smaller it will get. If you do some research and have some specific questions feel free to PM me.

Is that "surf" as in surfing, or just as in beach/ocean? There's no surfing on the Brac, but great climbing and solid Ti bolts.

Thanks Mac. I will be staying in or around Rincon. I might ask you a few specifics. John, Surf as in surfing correct
