Anyone have advice on painting on a foam helmet? (BD Vector)

Sharpie doesn't stick so I'm wondering if there's a way to protect it with clearcoat - not sure if the chemicals in nail polish clear coat negatively interact with the helmet materials. Is there a spray I could use?

I would imagine the manufacturers (BD, in this case) would advise against any paintings or decals on helmets, but you could ask them which chemicals are OK for that material. Doubt that they would approve of anything, but you never know.

Personally, I'd leave the art off the helmet.

Get a tattoo, instead (just kidding)

are you trying to draw on the foam, or the polycarbonate shell? if its just the shell paint should be just fine, foams are really challenging because many chemicals can damage them.

Painting your helmet causes your rappel knots to capsize, cams to walk, your sport draws to re-orient to back clips, your anchors to fail and holds to break off, everyone knows this.

sometimes i think i need a helmet to read these forums...the questions I see posed here make my head hurt.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
