Vail is not exactly a climbing Mecca. Try ten mile canyon, camp hale, bouldering and limited climbing around RedCliff. If you are planning on a Colorado climbing trip, Vail is just about the worst place to go.
ya its not really a climbing trip per say, its a vacation with some friends who have a place in vail so more of a hiking/ mountain biking/ having a good time type of trip. was hoping that there would be some close climbing near by.
looks like i will have one full day to go climbing so where would you suggest i drive to get in some really cool climbing and then drive home at night. i would like some moderate multipitch trad but awesome sport would work also
Head for Monitor Rock/Indy pass area. Monitor is about an hour drive from the Vail/Redlcliff area and has both trad and sport multi-pitch. Don't miss squid kid .10a PM me if you want more beta. I'm guessing you mean July 6th?
Fun sport climbing in Ten Mile Canyon, which is ~20 mins away between Copper Mountain & Frisco. Very popular with long climbs and 100 yard approach: Mount Royal (near Frisco)
