Description

Old Campground is off the Upper Spur Trail, and up and behind the really big block with the bolts on its east face. The uphill side of the boulder faces the cliff line and has a nice flat landing under its whole length.

Getting There

From the Animas Mountain Trailhead/The Spider (where 7 trails meet in about 100' (I know, it's missing one leg))/power lines: take the high trail to the Flatiron-ish boulder which is RIGHT against the right side of the trail. Make a right onto the Upper Spur Trail. A ways after the trail flattens out, look for a large tree (cedar?) on the left, then walk right to a really large block with bolts up through a roof on its east face. Go uphill and around the big rock blocking your way. The routes are on the uphill side of that rock, facing the cliff line.

From The Cube/Warm Up Rock: take the Ponderosa Trail back toward the Animas Mountain trailhead. Just before what's sometimes called the Battleship Boulder, follow the Upper Spur Trail up to the left. A ways after the trail's high point, look for a BIG block on the left, with a roof on its right side and a bolt line going through that roof. Walk uphill, behind that rock. This rock is the big one behind that one, and the routes face the cliff line.
