Hi! I'm going to be studying in Florence, Italy this September-December and am looking for climbing partners within reasonable travel distance. Any suggestions on spots to climb would be great too, I am looking for sport routes and bouldering primarily although I have some trad experience. I am comfortable leading in the 5.10c (6b) range and following up to 5.11c (6c+). I know it's a ways off but let me know if you are interested in weekend trips etc. during that time period. I can potentially bring a rope and set of draws.

how far away are you willing to go for climbing?
I have a rental car and would be very happy to visit crags anywhere.
will you be able to climb on weekdays or only weekends?
Richard

I won't have a car, but I am willing to travel any distance, limited to transportation by train, etc. Obviously trains won't take me directly to crags but if you have a car, I'm willing to meet up somewhere then drive anywhere! I can definitely go on weekends, and I will know soon what my schedule looks like and if weekdays are possible- they might be.

I live in Sicily. Willing to travel. There's a climbing festival 29OCT-01NOV in San Vito Lo Capo. Google it!

Paul- the festival looks awesome! I definitely want to attend. Sicily is pretty far but I am also willing to travel and meet in the middle somewhere.

Based on a few search results on airline web pages, any flight traveling between Florence and an airport in Sicily will layover in Rome. Looks like the total minimum flight time will be about 7 hours.

There are several crags 2 1/2 hours SE of Naples, just outside of Potenza.

A WONDERLAND of climbing in both Arco and Finale Ligure!

I lead 7a, am crazy about single and multipitch sport climbing. Am not very experienced with trad climbing, but have a double rack of cams and a set of stoppers, a set of jumars and two dynamic ropes.

I may go to Finale Ligure, one of the biggest sport areas in Italy, in October. I'd rent a car, and could meet you at train station. Will you only have weekends, or any longer times?

Wow, you make that so easy for me! I've got the guide book for Finale Ligure, and I'm geared up for sport multipitch and easy trad!

I'm not sure yet if I'll be available on weekdays- I won't figure that out until I get there in September. finale ligure sounds like a great spot, I mainly do sport (although I've done some easy trad, I have no gear though) and lead 6c sport but can follow 7a.

I'm interested in travelling to Sardegna Island for the first weekend of September. I definitely wanna get on the multipitch sport routes there!
