Hello,
I am coming through for a day or two to the blue mound/palisade state park areas, and was wondering if anyone knows of good free camping location near either of these places? Any info would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Eric

Free camping is hard to come by in that part of Minnesota...no National Forest Service land to take advantage of like most other parts of the state. No forests at all really. Other than "camping" (sleeping in your car) at the rest area on the MN/SD border or at the Sioux Falls Walmart, I would opt to camp at the State Parks themselves. It's not free, but both campgrounds are acceptably good and close to the climbing. I would also suggest taking some time to hike the mound at Blue Mounds. It's as cool as the climbing is.

We usually sleep in our cars when we go to Blue Mounds/Palisades, but as Paul stated the campgrounds are decent but not free. I believe both parks offer online site maps that say if they are booked up or not. Palisades isn't too large and tends to fill up.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
