I'm thinking about a trip to the dacks in a week or two - does anyone know what the blackflies are like around there now?

The flies are out and about. Bring your head net! The bugs were worst at Crane this week than Chapel Pond. It's windy today so there's relief

Where? black fly intensity is very specific to a location

The where depends largely on the blackflies!
We'd like to get a bit more backcountry (Wallface?) but I know they're probably worse out there..

It's been raining a lot here the past few days, even if the bugs don't kill you at Wallface it's likely to be wet.

Black flies weren't bad at Chapel Pond this afternoon, been out like crazy at Silver Lake.

The ADKs are HUGE, and you will not get a healthy sampling of every possible part of them a few days in advance. Even day to day conditions... ah the heck with it, read this:
