On a road trip through Colorado, and I am looking to find some moderate crags in the central or western part of the state. Sport or trad are fine. Thank you.
Define "Central". The center of the state is roughly the Front Range, stretching from Wyoming all the way to New Mexico and there's 10 lifetimes + of moderate routes. Next question, what driving route are you taking through CO, as that will refine the areas.

Sport or trad or both, and what is "Moderate" to you ? Clear Creek, just 5 miles away from I 70 has some great sport climbing, but it would be a complete shame to drive that close to Eldorado SP and not climb there, ~ 30 min north of I-70.
not really a "crag" but if your on the western slope you should do "otto's route" on independence monument in Colorado national monument. a fun and easy 4 pitch route up a five hundred foot free standing sandstone monument. most of it is about 5.4 with a couple 5.8 moves both of which are bolted. you really only need about 4-5 pieces of gear to climb it. fun route, huge bolted belay ledges, the "time tunnel", and a spectacular summit make it a climb not to be missed.
