Climbing and Outdoor Ethics - Pile of Shit midway East Crack at Lovers' Leap

A reminder to practice your leave no trace principles when you get out there. If you don't know what leave-no-trace principles are, look 'em up and teach your friends and climbing partners.

There are several splotches of shit near the second belay of of Bears Reach and East Crack at Lovers' Leap, complete with toilet paper and all. Whoever took a shit there was within 90 ft of reaching the top of the formation and I guess really couldn't wait. Sure, it can happen to any of us. But I wish whoever did it took their toilet paper with them, shat in their chalk bag, shat their pants after all, or came back to clean up the shit pile that they left. Shame.

Same shit on Steck Salathe, before Wilson overhang. Gross and sad.

Maybe they got puckered by those two bulges before the second belay....or maybe not puckered enough.

Alternatively they got (un)puckered after than long unprotected traverse from East Wall...

Alternatively they got (un)puckered by the loose flake and not-so-great belay on Bear's Reach...

Bummer....and nasty!

+1. I was one of the climbers who had the displeasure of finding this disgustingness while climbing Bear's Reach just over a week ago. I have to imagine it was an emergency, but please have the decency to come back and clean up if you do that. You made that belay awful for many, many people.

Bear's Reach is always a shit show.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
