Hi everyone,

I planned a trip up to Rumney for this week a while ago, and low and behold it looks like the weather is going to be less than ideal on Monday and Tuesday.

Can anyone recommend any areas that are within a few hours driving distance that has solid sport or bouldering routes? Our next stop on our trip is Boston on Thursday so anything in that direction would be prime.

Thanks,
Ben

It has been an unusually dry spring so far, so the seeping routes are mostly dry now. Therefore, even if it does rain there will be plenty of climbable stuff at Rumney, just stick to the overhanging crags.

Don't know what grades you are looking for, but Rumney is far better than any other nearby option in the rain.

The upper tier at Farley has some good rainy day routes as long as it doesn't pour. Yosemite Crack is 5.8+/5.9 up to the anchors below a big roof, and Barndoor Crack is a great 5.10b that should be dry.

I don't know how much driving you are willing to do, or how hard you climb.
Many of the overhanging routes at Wiamea will be climbable (12 and up). But if you have 4 more hrs driving in you, latest forecast was dry for northern Me. That means Acadia should be good. Good luck! tk

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
