2014 Clif Bar Psicobloc Masters Series Highlights

The Utah Olympic Park is upgrading its training facility. One feature they are adding is a deep water soloing wall. The Olympic Park has hosted the Psicobloc Masters Series the last few years. They have always installed a temporary climbing wall for the event. Now they are expanding the pool and adding a permanent wall the full length of the pool that will be open to the public, rates are unknown at this time! They are expecting to open this June.

The Grand Opening Celebration June 27th, 7pm. Will include a commemorative Flying Ace All-Stars Freestyle Show featuring Olympians and athletes from past and present. Plus, Outdoor BBQ, Beer Garden and much more.

I'm definitely going to try this at some point. My concern is, what effect dose water have on climbing shoes? Will it ruin my shoes? Some incite from someone who has experience deep water soloing would be helpful.

They'll be fine, just rinse your shoes out with non-chlorinated afterwards. I've DWS'd and even washed mine numerous times in a washing machine and never had any issues.

Confirmed opening date of the climbing wall to the public is June 29.

The real questions is: Are they going to let the public climb to the top of the wall?

During last years comp they let the public climb the wall after (different routes though), but you could only climb about 1/3 of the wall...

I personally would like to climb all 50', especially if I have to pay $20 to do it.

I would be really upset if you weren't allowed to climb all the way to the top of the wall.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
