I'm heading to Seattle from July 19-28. What are the best indoor and outdoor spots to climb sport? Also wanting to boulder.
And if anyone wants to climb sport, I won't have a partner so I'm down to meet up. Haven't decided if I'll bring my own gear.
Thanks!!

Hey Rebekah,

All of my climbing in the Seattle area has been over on the Olympic peninsula. A great, easy sport route is a 4 pitch area called Hamma Hamma river rocks. Its just south of the town Quilcene, along the hood canal. Might be worth a check out! The other area is called Sore thumb, by lake crescent. Its harder to find, but highly worth it, even for the view. I may be home at the end of July and If I am, I'd be happy to show you the olympic mtn. climbing areas. As far as the Cascade mountains or other crags across from the Olympic peninsula, I'm not to familiar with.

OH! I almost forgot, just south of Hamma Hamma river rocks and the little town Quilcene, is lake Cushman. mountainproject.com/v/lake-… Its hard to beat going bouldering or setting up a top rope and climbing, while looking over the lake at the top.

Indoor sport - Vertical World
Indoor bouldering - Seattle Bouldering Project
Outdoor sport - Exit 32/38 (closest), Mt Erie (never been), Leavenworth (limited sport, mostly trad), Index (sport routes start in the 5.11 range, most of what MP says are sport are actually mixed and need trad pro).
Outdoor bouldering - Leavenworth and Gold Bar, for sure!

pnygren has it just about right. I will add that there is plenty in terms of sport climbing in Leavenworth. There is more trad for sure, but more than enough sport routes to keep someone busy for a week or two. exit 38 isn't bad, everything from 5.7 slab climbing up to overhung 12+ and harder, though better hard stuff can be found at exit 32.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
