Guide Service Recommendations - Red Rocks
Hey guys, |
Rusty, |
I'd recommend someone from American Alpine Institute. Although he's now the ops manager for AAI, Jason Martin wrote the guidebook for easy/moderates there. What you want is someone to take you to the easy/moderates out of the way of the normal crowded stuff. AAI is very involved with the Red Rock Rendezvous, so they should know the area very well. |
I'd recommend Mark Limage as well |
I accidentally left a partial rack of gear at the base of a climb a couple years ago. Dan Young found it and went out of his way to get it back to me. He is a stand up guy and a guide here with AAI. |
I'd recommend Dan Young. Not only a guide, but also put up the new "classic", Big Bad Wolf. |

If you're looking for an AMGA Certified Rock Guide, your local options include: |
Tracy Martin or Elaina Arenz are two great gals as well... |
This is my first post, but I have been lurking on here for a while. |
My wife went to Red Rocks in March, and climbed with guide Elaina Arenz. We all had a great time and climb. Elaina knows Red Rock very well. |

Hi Rusty, |
+1 for Doug Foust |

Elaina, Tracy, Jason Martin all great! JHMG great outfit, too. |

Andrew Yasso wrote:Hi Rusty, Doug Foust is my colleague, and the only full time local AMGA Certified Rock Guide working consistently in Red Rock (to my knowledge). He is an excellent guide and person to hang out with and learn from. I am a local from September - May every season, and also an AMGA Certified Rock Guide. During the summers I guide in Alaska, British Columbia, the Cascades, and the Sierra. I would be psyched to get out with you. Doug and I both work for the American Alpine Institute. Elaina and Tracy are also local during that time of year, and are AMGA Certified Rock Guides. They are excellent as well, and work for both the Alpine Institute and Jackson Hole. Hope you have a great trip. Also - thanks to Kurt Hicks for the recommendation.wow thank you everyone for the awesome recommendations! I will reach out one of you Alpine Institute folks once I have more concrete plans. Thanks again! |

Looking forward to hearing from you Rusty. You can shoot a message to our program coordinator Lily[at]alpineinstitute[dot]com if you want to find out more in the meantime, or get in touch with one of us through Mountain Project. |

If it's not too late, +1 for Tracy Martin. She's an amazing guide and great to spend a day with. |

We hired Doug Foust last year for a multi-pitch and he was great. Friendly, knowledgeable, would definitely hire him again. Guide well, he does. |
I was lucky enough to be a mock client for Dan Young, for a guide test, he was great I learned a ton. I would definitely recommend him. Btw its called Red Rock not Red Rocks :) |
There are several good guides in Red Rock, but here is another vote for Tracy Martin. |
Tracy Martin is great. |
