Just wondering if anyone knows if there are still access issues with Quarry Rock! I'm coming to Vancouver for a week on vacation and would like to do some climbing there, and the text says that the property is owned by the marina and climbing is considered trespassing, so if any could confirm that or let me know if climbing is allowed that would be great!

In addition, if anyone recommends some places near Vancouver for some sport climbing that would be appreciated. My partner and I are solid on 11s in the Red River Gorge so if BC sport climbing grades are comparable I would love suggestions! Thank you.

I'm not sure how much time you got but Cal-Chek is about an hour and half from the lions gate bridge doing the speed limit. Squamish is even closer.

Hi, I live about 5 minutes from Quarry Rock and I just checked with the Marina. They own all of the land above the marina (including Quarry Rock) and lease the trail to Quarry Rock to the municipality. They are actively discouraging the climbing below the rock including the newly bolted routes just south of Quarry Rock. There was a rope that helped access around a corner and drop that was recently removed. You could probably still climb there, but refrain from going through the Marina - go from Indian River Road by the power lines (quickest route to quarry rock) and hike down the gully immediately to the south side of Quarry Rock. I haven't been there in about a month, so I can't comment as to whether the bolts have been removed.

Was up there two weeks ago, routes are still bolted and the anchors are solid. Best access is from indian river drive, parking under the power lines and walking down the Baden Powel trail to and around quarry rock. Beautiful spot, nice, quiet, and pretty clean.

Hello everyone, as of June 2 the climbing areas at Quarry Rock, in Deep Cove, are in fact CLOSED until further notice. We have an access issue here and CASBC is currently working on a solution. UNtil then, we are actively spreading the word to discourage climbers from visiting these crags. PLease do not agitate the landowner by making a sneak appearance as he appears to be making daily walk throughs. This is private property and climbing here is considered trespassing. ONce we have a long term solution or anything to report differently the community will be notified via websites and various other media.
