I think both Laos and Yangshou would be a gamble, don't Green Climbers in Thakkek basically shut down in June because of the monsoon? In the last week or two Yangshou has also flooded quite badly.
Cat Ba might be ok but I don't know if the crags suffer from seepage. Personally i'm going to krabi as some of the steep routes will stay dry.
I went deep water soloing at Cat Ba in late May and had a blast no seepage. I would do that every day if I could. It was seriously one of the best times of my life I miss Vietnam so much!

Yes, Krabi is the best place in S/E Asia from June-August.
I've read that Cat Ba gets busy and more expensive during the Vietnamese summer holidays (June-August)....annoyingly so? Able to climb Butterfly Valley in June's sun/rain?
I'm planning to go to Yangshuo this month. I was wondering if you did end up going in June? and if so how were the conditions? How easy was it to find other climbers?
Hi Michael, I didn't go to Yangshuo. Don't think anyone would recommend climbing there from June until end of August....but....there are always people climbing. Easiest place to hook up is at the Climbers Inn. No idea but I'm guessing Getu Valley may have friendlier conditions in the summer months.
