Weather Pattern - City of Rocks, ID
Just wondering if anyone is familiar with the weather patterns around City of Rocks and Castle Rock in southern Idaho. |
I've never climbed at The City, but, just like anywhere, a 60% chance is not an encouraging forecast. |
For the City, I always feel it gets the worse of the predicted weather. It is usually windier or gets rain when Burley does not. |
Agree with Chris, usually rains more than predicted. |
Its going to rain. |

If you are lucky it will come down as snow at that altitude. |

Flip side is that the rock dries fast. Usually because its windy. Ha ha. 80% chance on NOAA for Saturday in Almo. Not worth the drive IMHO. |

Direct news from Almo! |
You got some climbing in! Totally worth it! |
Ditto on the comments about it raining more than forecast! I made the drive there on Wednesday hoping to get in at least a partial day of climbing. Weather forecast said 40% chance of afternoon showers. Unfortunately it was raining and pretty socked in already at 9:30 a.m. when we arrived. We hiked and explored for a few hours hoping it would clear, but no dice. |

You climbed on wet rock?!?! How many holds did you break off?! That granite is pretty fragile. |
