Description Suggest change

Lanai, the pineapple island, sits four miles off the coast of Maui, directly across the Auau Channel from Lahaina, Hawaii. Lanai is the sixth largest of the Hawaiian Islands with a population of merely 3,200. Lanai is the 43rd largest island in the United States. Larry Ellison (Oracle CEO) bought 97% of Lanai from the Castle & Cooke Company in 2012 for $300 million dollars. The rock is volcanic in origin and resembles conglomerate in that large chucks of rock and cobbles are welded into a matrix of questionable quality. The Maui to Lanai ferry costs $60 and take 50 minutes.

Getting There Suggest change

Take the Maui-Lanai Ferry from Lahaima to Manele. The ferry makes the passage five times daily for $60 roundtrip.
