Looking for a Mentor

Hey guys, I'm fairly new to climbing, a friend got me hooked earlier in the year. I've only climbed inside a handful of times, but love being outside and on the rock. I'm looking for a partner and mentor to help get me more into the sport, go out and have some fun, and teach me the ropes to step up to the next level. I've mostly done routes near Golden. I have climbed a few sport5.8-5.10 routes in my comfort zone. Have yet to lead climb and would need to learn to set and clean top rope. If you're interested please let me know! Eager to learn and join in on the fun. Gear includes shoes, harness, belay device. Getting ready for the purchase of rope and quick draws and webbing. Thanks for the read!

I have a little kid at home so I can't get out as much as I'd like to, but if you don't mind working with my limited availability, I can teach you whatever I know. I climb indoors once a week, rotating between Earth Treks, Movement Denver, Denver Bouldering Club South, and Rock'n & Jam'n Centennial. I know you want to climb outside, BUT I like to screen my partners indoors first before heading outside with them. PM if you're interested meeting up at one of the gyms at some point.

Alex,

i'll certainly get out with you and share some bits. just as long as you're plenty fine with starting from the beginning and progressing from there. I've learned that for me I have to just jump in the fire with the ol' mtn. proj. forum and I know that I know enough to keep both me and whatever jackwagon or sketchball partner I may come across alive and safe. I only hope that the day out on the rock feels more like fun, personal climbing and not a day of unpaid guiding. I also know that I want to bag many more grade III's and enter into IV's, V's, and alpine bits, and that I wouldn't dare post for those sorts of partners on mtn. proj. so, if you're willing to start from the ground up, like literally ground school bits and assessments, I will certainly take you under my wing.

best!

Aikibujin,

dew! are you from back east? or were you climbing back east for any good amount of time? i saw your photo from Summersville lake and it made me super excited and got me missing all them bits back east (though the DWS was not for me, i'd just SUP them bits instead).

anywho, perhaps we could tag team mentoring Alex? (i certainly like your safety bits with the partner screening et al)

thanks!

Alex,

What is your schedule like? Send me a PM and maybe we can get together.
