This may be a stupid question but is it okay to climb after dark at Mckenzie Pond? I want to go up Friday before it rains so I can try to finish my project but its supposed to be really hot so I want to do some night climbing.

The boulders of Mckenzie Pond are all on state land so there is no rule about when you can access them. However it should be noted that the houses across the street are within easy earshot of the first set of boulders. So any loud sending encouragement or the like will probably not be taken well by them. If your project is at a farther back set you should be fine. No matter what time of day you are climbing at Mckenzie Pond because part of the access requires walking on the road and being close to homes it is important to keep a low profile when near the road and at the first set. PLEASE use the newly designated parking area and the new access trail that are all on state land. The new trail is off the road about 100 ft closer to Saranac Lake from the original trails entrance. Good luck sending your project!
