Put Beal Rope Marker on my rope. The places that I marked are very stiff and there is a hesitation when it goes through my belay device. Have I ruined my rope?

Its fine ... Thats one of the advantages

Yr belayer can FEEL the middle

I've used it on ropes with the same initial result. Perhaps we both gooped it on a bit too thickly. But not to worry, the marking fairly quickly softens up, while still being at least slightly palpable, especially after a bunch of rappels.

Def didn't ruin your rope if anything that's a good thing. I like it because when your lowering or belaying someone you get to know when you are at the middle of your rope. It will slowly soften up like rgold said. Messy stuff but works well.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
