Getting a Misty Mountain Cadillac tight around your waist..

OK guys, I know how dumb I sound but I need some advice.

So I went out this morning to rock my new harness. I got to the crag, racked up and... Felt like my harness was going to fall off. I had a small rack for one pitch. Anybody have this problem? I've lost about 20 pounds.. Does that make a difference?

I have the Cadillac and it sometimes feels like it's slipping down my waist, too. I think the reason for that is the wider waist belt on it. It can't "bite" as well into your waist as a thinner one does. The wideness distributes the weight better, so hanging in it is comfortable (even though it doesn't have much padding). Just cinch down on the two buckles until it feels sufficiently snug.

Also, as the waist belt portion softens up over time and use, the slippage seems to become less. Stick with it - it's a good harness.

Thanks Frank!

I'm loving the comfort as well. I'm looking forward to using all the gear loops on multi pitch route too. I try to rack my draws on a shoulder sling but it doesn't feel right. Which seems wrong considering I have no problem using a sling collect gear when following.

I've used Misty harnesses since I started a decade ago and haven't felt like they were ever going to "fall off". I've had the Cadillac for ~3 years.

Are you wearing the harness above your hip bones? Also, if the waist belt is a little loose when you first put it on, that will likely be exacerbated when you put a rack on.

Since you lost 20lbs you might need to downsize your harness. Each size is a three inch waist measurement range, and I would venture to guess you've lost way more than that by dropping 20lbs. Maybe you just can't tighten the waist enough for your new svelte figure? :D

Haha.. Thanks Joe but I just bought the harness. I bought an XL (35-38) preying that was right. Size 40 pants were becoming too tight so I started eating right about six weeks ago. The waist straps are just long enough to get tucked inside the belt. That made me feel like I accomplished something not just staring down at the scale with my fingers crossed!

Sometimes when you lose weight only your tits get smaller. Just tighten the straps, honey.

My tits are getting actually getting bigger. I got my upper body stuck in a chimney this morning.

I like it when you call me honey!

Ana,

I tried that. It works pretty good!

In the end I think I'm just not used to buckles that need to be double backed. I'm used to the harness that have newer buckles. Like everything in life, the more you use it the more you figure it out. I tell ya, can't beat the comfort.
