Trango ropes
Has anyone had any experience using Trango ropes, or heard any feedback about them? |
I used a Diamond 9.4 70m in Eldo a few weeks ago. Handled really well and seemed really durable. Got lots of comments on the brightness (a good think IMO). Going to order one for myself soon and put it to the test over the summer. |
I just bought the Titan 10.2, 60m, I really like it, I have used it on lead, rope solo, and aid climbing with no problems. It is also seems thinner than a traditional 10.2 and handles really nice. |

This is all great to hear. The better quality (time, love, genuine concern for the users, etc) every company makes their ropes the better for all of us. |
Who makes them? |
I'm pretty sure PMI makes them. Doesn't Trango own, or used to own, PMI? |
Just got notified my order just shipped.. diamond 9.4 60m. The only thing I am mildly concerned with is it's only a dry sheath. BUT it will be lighter than my other rope. Planning on some trad this summer. When I get it I'll post a little more info. |

Stiff right out of the box. Super light (current rope is 10.2 equinox). Seemed to tighten up knots well. Still quite stiff though. |
Trango own PMI? First I heard such a thing. |

So after a few months with these things, anybody have more comments? Thinking about getting a set of amphibians as my first twin/double set up. |
After using the 9.4 this weekend: Nice and light. It is constructed very well. Figure 8's were a pain to untie due to how thin the rope is. |

According to a 2011 video on Trango's YouTube channel they are the US distributor for PMI. youtu.be/_0Dv5s39s00 Also saw a statement to that effect on a caving site, but can't get much more authoritative than Trango itself. |

Trango distributes dynamic ropes from PMI. PMI makes other rope products that are not distributed by Trango. |

Anyone have a season or two on Trango ropes and have feedback on performance/longevity? Considering getting a 9.4 |
I have two seasons on my Trango rope, lots of cragging and few big walls. It's just now starting to look a little used. I have been really happy with mine, its a 10.2, I forget what it's called. I plan on buying a 70m Trango this season. The only thing I found different about the trango ropes were how slick they are when new compared to others. It feeds through belay devices very fast, you really need to be on top of it for the first several uses until it breaks in. Other than that I have been very pleased. |

Anyone have any reviews on the Lotus? I cannot find ONE single review online. Which is frustrating. I am looking at the Lotus 9.9 70m....but after the last 2 years on a Sterling 9.4 ( Nano ) I don't really want to go up in thickness... all be it just a bit. |

Anyone have any beta spray on this beautiful pink cord?My friend has one and likes it a lot. I've had the 9.4 70 for a year and a half and its the most durable "skiinyish"line that I've used. Looks like his is built the exact same way so I would expect it to last as long or longer than my 9.4. Go for it! They're great ropes. (Better than the nano too, mine hasn't gotten as soft as my other buddies Sterling 9.4 nano) |

Anyone have experience with the Amphibian? I'm having trouble finding any first hand info on it. |

I've been using the Trango Catalyst 9.0 for the last few months, and I love the handling the weight and the feel of it. |
