So, went to the local indoor wall and rented a pair of climbing shoes, got a size 14 and my toes were scrunched and was way to small and painful. Couldn't even stand without being in pain. So im looking to buy a pair but see that there is like none to choose from.
Anyone know a good brand that will have a 48 - 48.5 sized climbing shoe? that's affordable?
I know Five Ten makes a few of its models in up to size 15. For higher-end, the Anasazi VCS is available up to size 15. For more affordable, the Rogue Lace goes to 15.
For Five Ten sizing reference, the shoes are sized to match your street shoe size, typically. I wear a 13 street shoe and the Anasazi VCS in a 13. Some of the more aggressive models run a bit tighter, though.

What's your street shoe size? I'm a 13 When I first started I also rented shoes and had to go with 14s(I believe 5.10 rentals) ... Even bought a pair of evolvs in 15 which ended up being way sloppy after a month..I found that la sportiva makes shoes that seem to be more accurate to street size, I wear a 46 or 46.5 in most of their models. Try the Jekyll VS
I'm a size 14-15 as well. Tenaya makes a fantastic shoe in size 48.5--the Masai. For less expensive shoes, you could look at the La Sportiva Tarantulace. Additionally, the Mythos is a great show but more expensive.
It really depends on how wide your foot is--for a narrow fit, La Sportiva (size 47 for me) is great. Wider and you may want to check out 5.10 (size 49 for me--loose in the foot) but...if you can swing the $120-140 for the Tenaya, I would highly recommend checking them out-my new favorite shoe (size 48.5 for me-prefect).
