Looking to travel up to the canyon this weekend, has anyone been up there so far this year? Looking to stay a long weekend and camp. Winter camping is fine as long as the road is open and trails are at least noticeable as I have yet to climb in ten sleep.

This highway web cam gives a good indication of what to expect.

The Old Road usually does not open until early June, and camping is much more limited when that is closed - we were up there last Memorial Day weekend and it was a shit show in the Forest Service campgrounds. There are other spots to camp off some of the county roads near the top of the canyon, but those can be super heinous if there's a bunch of snow. We came extremely close to getting stuck in our AWD V8 van. I would say Lander area is probably a safer bet but check that previous link - it could be okay...
