Kevin Hansen needs to do some more noob bashing in here.

This is a free gear thread not the beg for gear you can't afford thread.

No asking for gear, unless you've been giving.

Simple as that. (unless you are doing volunteer/good things with it like the guy asking for stuff to give to locals in Cuba, btm pg 10)

Hey Ryan,

Sorry, didn't mean to sound like a beggar. I wasn't looking for free gear just thought it would be a good place to make a general request to purchase old gear people may be getting tired of. Should have made it more clear, and not have posted in this thread. Sorry again!

I'm moving and have some gear to donate. I have some Metolius cams, 2 and 3, and TCUs, both 1s. I have lots of runners and wire gate carabiners. I have some drill bits, bolts and hangers. I'd prefer giving the lot instead of piecing out. I'm in Arvada. PM me.

I'll take them off your hands. And I can pick up in Arvada. I drive right through there every day on my way to work. PM Sent.

I have some old Boulder area guides if anyone is interested. Fairly out of date, but perhaps useful if you are new in town and don't want to spend a lot of money right away and want something to supplement MP.

Colorado Front Range Bouldering 1 and 2 by Bob Horan 1995
Red Rock Canyon Open Space By S Green 2004 (somehow have an extra of this)
Upper Dream Canyon by Rossiter 1997
Boulder Sport Climbers Guide by Rolofson 1995
Boulder Canyon Sport and Adventure Climber's Guide by Rolofson 2000
Classic Shelf Road Climbs by F Knapp Date ??? Small booklet
Golden Cliffs by P Hubbel 1997 (somehow I have two of these)

Probably not worth mailing any of them, but I could leave at a local gym or we can meet in Boulder if anybody can use these.

Personally, I really like the topos in Rossiter and Rolofson's books, but they are missing some new routes.

I'll take them off your hands. I'm relatively new to the area and those guides cover some places I haven't been yet. Will PM.

thx.

Hey all

Love seeing a community come together in such a generous fashion. I was recently introduced to climbing from my younger sister (imagine that) and had no idea where to start in terms of gear. If anyone was willing to part with some old gear to help get me started I'd be more than willing to cover any and all shipping costs. If not, point me toward the right gear that I can get for a reasonable beginner price.

Appreciate it!

No bashing. Just education. No one likes to read about a bunch of "hey guys, I'm cheep, so give me yer stuff."
This is a thread dedicated to giving. Keep it that way. If you want cheep gear, surf eBay, Craigslist, and the for sale thread. Other wise just be patient. I've found luck in Thrift Stores in towns like Boulder CO, Jackson WY, Sun Valley ID, and Bishop CA.
I once bought 35 pitons for $50 in Sun Valley. I kept the Knife Blades and Bugaboos and then sold the Bongs and Angles to a collector for his museum. He paid $90 for the rest. LOVING IT!

LAST idea for scrounging cheep gear is QUIT CLIPPING BOLTS and start trad climbing classic climbs. Last time I climbed Exum Complete on the Grand the group before us left close to $100 in uncleaned gear. I've cleaned 3 cams off the Elephants Perch. There's a stuck can on the first pitch of East Face of Mount Whitney. I met a lifer climber here at the City of Rocks who had a Rubber Made topped off with uncleaned gear. If you're a good cleaner, you'll never buy gear, just get out and climb a lot.
Cheers

Consider this a beggar post, but with altruistic motives!

This summer I will be helping in leading a knot tying and basic rope work (including ascending and rappelling) clinic with a local collective. I have some gear, but not enough for the expected turnout. If anyone has rope and other fabrics (webbing, cordlette etc.), retired or otherwise, they'd be willing to send my way PLEASE PM me and we can be in contact. I'll happily pay shipping or pick up in the 4 corners region. I would also love to get various hardware pieces like carabiners and rap devices, but I understand that's a lot to ask. Thank you all for being such rad folks!

I have an older Petzl helmet. The shell has a small crack/tare right where the St ap is riveted to the shell. It would be an easy fix to drill a new hole and re-secure the strap. The damage happened during storage, not from an impact.
Pm me.

Couple Random Bits here

Palua Liners Size 29
I got these with a pair of used ski boots, they were cut to the height of the boot and when I molded them they lost some height, they are 8 inches high in the front. If you have shorter ski boots or snowboard boots these might be perfect for you.

Native Eyewear Gear:
I've managed to lose both my Native sunglasses, but I have lenses left. For a Silencer model I have clear lenses, orange, yellow, this strange opaque X 2 pairs, and a polarized brown.

For Hardtop, I have the opaque blue and interchangable temple pieces with straps on them.

Someone will have to pay to ship the liners, but I'll mail these lenses off to anyone for completely FREE!
