You won't regret bringing a super lightweight ice axe or a BD whippet pole.
Don't worry about water purification stuff, there's a water fountain at the Applebee Campground, but honestly, I just filled up my water straight from the streams of glacier melt (use a bandana to filter out the silt) and had zero issues,
Definitely bring a head-net for bugs on the approach trail. You won't really need it once you get up to the glacier, but they're quite pesky on the hike in,
I would definitely air on the side of bringing too much food. By the end of my stay I was left eating peanut butter and jelly with a spoon.
Bring a couple of good books in case the weather turns foul.

There a direct start at 5.8 that's the best pitch on the route. Harder than the rest of it though. If you run the pitches long it's only a 3 or 4 pitch route, depending on if you rope up for the final scramble to the summit.
Watch the loose rock on the approach. It can be rather sketchy.
