No, I'm afraid of denting the teeth on every exposed rock as it falls 70 meters. Then to bean me on the helmet as it proceeds to fall another 70m. To add injury to insult, a chunk of ice will strike the back of my neck as I'm watching the screw plummet below me.

Oh and there's no chance of this technique f'ing up at all. ;-P

If you are trusting just one screw to rap off of, then the ice is good enough for a V-thread. I don't know the numbers off the top of my head, perhaps chart junkies like bearbreeder would chime in, but I think a V-thread would be way stronger than a single screw.

K, I think it's a poor argument - you can always build a vertical V-thread. If the ice is so poor to make another good hole in it within 10-20cm, I don't think I want to trust that sole ice screw to get off the ice.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
