Old gear needed (for decorating)

Our church is doing a "Mt Everest" themed Vacation Bible School this June and I'd read a suggestion that local rock climbing shops switch out their gear every 6 months or so (updating it, for safety) & they might be willing to donate. Sadly, my local shop is not able to do that.

Does anyone have a tip on where to find used equipment that would be free/cheap for us to use as decorations? ....ropes, carabiners, etc
thanks,
Becky W

Cool, I have a friend that is hosting the same event in June. I lent her some old retired gear for use. Maybe the shop might let you post a request for someone to let you use their old gear.

Good luck.

I think you've been misinformed re. shops' stocking practices.

Interesting idea! Honestly, depending on the age group of the kids, it might be nicer to decorate with facsimiles, i.e. new pieces of bright colored non-climbing rope and shiny hardware store carabiners, than getting used gear which will be scrapped up and dirty.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
