I wish I could find that old Patagonia Sonnie Trotter video of him doing Prosthetics in Mill Creek on gear. Anyone know where that went? It used to be in the 'Tin Shed' but they discontinued that and now I can't find it on the interwebz. |

They're so strong and awesome and laughing in the face of gender stereotypes!Normally stereotypes exist because they are true 60% or more of the time... or at least used to be true and may not be anymore (normally they are still true majority of the time). Lets not try to go off on it (you will see alot more videos of it because people like to film things that are not normal) just happen to be a software dev who processes big data and hate to break the news to you! There was no reason to have a rope on this, all you needed was one boulder pad, maybe he was making it harder on purpose using the rope? |

Also your bit about stereotypes is not true. They exist because the majority decides that all members of a minority can be characterized by a certain trait. That's why the stereotype of the average woman climbing less hard than the average man exists - there's absolutely nothing to support that. Same reason for the stereotype of black men being dangerous or aggressive. |

Tom Randall free soloing Trench
MP thread on the subject.. It would take an army of pads to make this rig even kinda safe to climb without a rope... Of the solo Tom says, "Generally Im a complete pansy about stuff like this, but I just felt so good on the day the option of decking out on my head from 20ft without spotters didnt even cross my mind". |

You can't go by off what you see on this forum because the average person probably doesn't spend time on here. I spent a year in a 3rd world country in Africa and you know what i saw the stereotypes every day. Not to say everyone fits into that category because it is far from true for everyone but there is a reason why stereotypes stick around, if they are untrue long enough they disappear from mainstream. Find some real numbers and prove me otherwise please. BigRed11 wrote: When you're inverted for the entire length of the route, one pad isn't going to stop you from breaking your neck when you fall on your head from 8 feet up.You should let boulders know about that because i boulder at those heights all day long on overhanging walls (not always completely horizontal) but i think with 2 pads / spotters (maybe 3) you would be fine without a rope, although most of the pictures it is hard to see the landings. |

ViperScale wrote: I spent a year in a 3rd world country in Africa and you know what i saw the stereotypes every day.Did you really, you neo-colonialist twat? And you saw it every day when you ventured out of your expat bubble and interacted with the locals? I'm living on the continent now and can confirm that you're full of shit. In my experience, I meet more Western assholes like you that fit a certain stereotype and perpetuate the problems here than I meet locals who fit your racist stereotypes. Burden of proof is on you with your ludicrous assumptions and categorizations, not on those of us who don't believe in them. |

^ bigred11, you do realize the irony in your post ...right?!? |

Hint: not as much as in your post. |
