Looking for 1 more person to do a multi pitch trad route tomorrow (Tuesday). There's 3 of us, 2 girls and 1 guy. We might do Frogland in Black Velvet canyon. 5.8 trad route. It's a classic and mostly in the shade so we would try and get to the parking lot reeeeallly early like 6am. If u are interested in joining send me a text today. (413)335-5297
Thanks
Alex

Alex - just curious why you need 4 people. Afraid you might not get benighted with just 3?

It would just be easier with 4

3 climbers: Leader trails an extra rope and belays both seconds with belay device in guide mode-not much slower than a party of 2.

4 climbers means you now have two separate parties spread out on the route-significantly slower.

Is there some aspect of this you're not mentioning in the post? A random climber you found on the internet the day before might not make things that much easier and could really complicate things.

Maybe they only have one rope and really just need one more rope...

A party of 3 should be as efficient as a party of 2, if you do it right; and definitely faster than 2 parties of 2. As long as you have at least one solid leader and 2 ropes you should be fine. If you don't know how to belay two followers simultaneously, you can always have the 2nd trail a rope to bring up the 3rd - definitely not the most efficient way to do it but probably not much (if any) slower than 2 parties of 2.

If you do get a fourth: I suggest that one party does Bourbon Street (8+), and the other does Frogland. They're within eyesight of each other at times, and overlap for the first pitch and a half, but both are great routes.

As a sidenote, a competent party of three can do both routes in a day, with the walkoff in between. Enjoy!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
