Hi there,

During last 3 month each Saturday I do bouldering. I've discovered a few great places for myself:

Castle Rock
Berkeley: Indian Rock, Mortar rock, Great stone face, Grizzly peak
Black sand beach (don't like it)

But I really want to visit new places, so I'm asking you to advise me your favorite places, except these above.

It should be something in 1 - 1.5 hour drive from Mountain View. I also will be happy join to you or if you join to me.

Let's enjoy bouldering together.

More North Bay but I enjoyed Nut Tree/Putah Creek, Ring Mtn., Stinson Beach and Goat Rock. I like how the rock types vary form place to place in the Bay area and the areas can be really scenic. Have fun!

Get the "Bay Area Rock" guide, it's got all the good stuff around the Bay Area. The one I have also includes sport routes and the like. You can pick one up at REI or a touchstone gym. The book looks like this: rockandsnow.com/69340/Bay-A….

Enjoy the climbing!

Chad Namolik, thanks for your advice, yesterday I've met a couple at Mortar Rock, Berkeley and they also suggested me to try Stinson Beach. I'll do it as soon as possible.

BayAreaClimber, thank you for the suggested guidebook, I'll take a look to it.

Maybe they told you already, but make sure to check the tides before going to Stinson Beach.
If you're there during high tide, the climbs will be in the ocean.

This is a good remark, actually I have no idea where check it. May be you can advise it?

Hi Roman!

The places that you and others have listed are all great--a few more of my faves include the often overlooked Glen Canyon park in SF (don't listen to the naysayers--there are some great, blocky easy-moderate problems there), Turtle Rock (one boulder with endless eliminates and a stunning view of SF), and if you head out to Stinson beach, make a day of it and stop at Mickey's beach for either sport routes or bouldering (again, check tides) and/or Mt. Tam for more stellar views of the bay and a smattering of pretty cool boulder problems and routes (see: campus girls). The Bay area guidebook mentioned earlier + Mountain Project should point you in the right direction.

Cheers,
Ally

Thank you. Unfortunately I still haven't had time to check out these places, but I definitely will do it.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
