How To Dampen the sound of hexes?

Make each hex its own colored velvet bag with a golden draw string. That way when you need to place them, you can choose the right hex by colored bag. The gold is so that just in case you put the bags somewhere you won't get them confused with your cam velvet bags, which have blue draw strings if you made them correctly and didn't disobey my previous orders.

For the clanging that happens while walking with hexes, you might try cinching one sling or cord around the whole bunch, to keep them pressed against each other.

Once you start climbing though, you'd have to remove the sling or cord.

If they "drive you up the wall" do you get there faster? I want some!

Nothing ruins a nice alpine mountain vista, than the clank of the cow bells. I was just wondering if any one has experimented with a way to try to dampen, reduce, or eliminate that awful sound. If any one was successful story please share because every one will thank you. Or if you tried this and failed I would like to hear that too.
Simple. Clip both sides of the hex with the hex's carabiner. i.e. the normal clip point and where the cord/sling passes under the hex. Although this makes them slightly more difficult to place in a hurry, one rarely places a hex on a long route in a hurry. It also stops them bashing you in the back of the leg whilst moving fast over easy ground.

Place them all really early on the pitch so that your partner has to deal with them instead.

^--- thought you just did that with big heavy cams.

The best way to dampen them is replacing them with cams.

Stash yer weed in them - then you can smoke yer up the pitch. And if you put your partner's weed in them they will be motivated to remove them.

Another way to dampen the sound of hexes is to rope a live goat to your harness. On your way up the climb your hexes will not sound bad at all compared to the goat noises. Also keep the goat away from your slings, I've heard rumors that goat's teeth can be corrosive to dyneema.

climbing friend,

you may cover the heads of your hexes with your raw fishheads. then, if you climb long route with climbing friend of multiple pitch, you may eat the fishheads for energy.

What's not proud about hexes? Switch your cams for hexes and get back to me. Clank away!

What the Hex are you all talking about? Replace them? Unclank them? Insanity... total insanity. These are the best pieces of pro a bro can hold. Cam em, slam em, stack em and clank em with pride.
Occasionally youngsters will tell you they are surprised people still use these!
Cheers

Sam Spuds, I couldn't have said it better myself. Kirtis, just embrace the sound that comes from trad climbing

Turn off your hearing aid.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
