I think this basically solves every mystery tormenting my soul.

At the gunks this would have been a 3 vehicle accident.

Yup! kinda crazy that's what I'm saying and that's what happened. Lucky because there were people on the other side of the van and the pick-up (noted because everything else is a car) was going about 50 MPH.

Could we get one of those speed limits signs with the built in radar that displays your speed. I don't know how truly affective they are. But it would be a good start. Also climbers should respect the road by parking as far from the white line, leashing their dogs and not belaying in the road. But everyone know this already.
The slower speed sign is an orange 'advised' speed not an actual limit. Speed limit is 55mph through there. It has been brought to the County Council in the past but there was resistance from the potash mine, is my recollection. As you know, Utah's good ol' boys are business first!

Yes, I do remember hearing something to that affect a while back.

Really can't say if that is the actual car. I drive pickups, know them pretty well. All the others are "cars". Minivan, SUV, sedan; still a car. Truth, I did not measure the distance white line from car, only observed from 4 routes down. Truth, driver hit the door. Bottom line, and purpose of the post, you'all be careful on wall street. Folks tend to drift off road a bit and puts other folks in danger. Be alert, don't get hurt.
How about don't post shit when you don't know the details? You were wrong, period. Now shut up and maybe apologize.

WTF is wrong with you?

A tourist was driving down 279 spotted the climbers and was gawking, as a result he drifted towards them. Car door was open. He took the car door off. No injuries. On the climbers part, the car was parked less than a foot away from the white line. The open door would have extended out onto the highway. The lesson to be learned is not the fault of each party, but that there is a danger, so please keep those kids close to the wall and away from the highway.

The advised thing is exactly what I was told as well.
Additionally and most importantly I was told by the BLM that there has, at times in the past, been pressure brought to bear concerning closing Wall Street to climbing rather than changing the speed limit to eliminate the danger.

Park nice, stay out of the road.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
