I turn heads when I'm carrying my pack, rope, and sling of cams and nuts. One girl dropped her dinner plans with her friend to go climbing with me after work after she asked me if I climb, or if I just walk around with gear on to look like I climb heh.

Good for you. What happened to her? Do you still climb with her?

She's got a boyfriend. He doesn't climb. She wants to climb, but she wants him, too. She says he got an attitude when she mentioned climbing with me to him. She says he's insecure about her climbing with me.

She performed extremely well, for a beginner, leading sport routes. I offered her top rope and sport climbing, and she wanted to try sport climbing, though she was hesitant. She obviously entered into a trance while she was climbing. She feels a passion for it. And she did extremely well at catching my whippers on a 5.12 overhang. She's focused on her man, though. Thanks for hearing my rant. Is there anyone out there with the same bullsh1t?

Fabian's not trolling you are. Real man.. Haha..

I doubt she would've had a partner for a day at the crag if it wasn't for me. The night before we went to the crag, she was texting me while she was with her boyfriend at a party..."He's been drinking all night. I think he's about to black out."

The next morning, she didn't seem hung over. She could've been sleeping in with her poisoned boyfriend, but instead, she was sending sport routes with me before noon LOL! I've posted silly stories on here before and gotten some people (local for me) pissed off, I'd better stop LOL! I just like to talk sh1t on people that wanna get in the climbing mode, but get engaged in something that they don't like as much. I understand the people that just wanna send routes and project the hard stuff in their free time. We're of a special breed, and I'm proud!

That's a great story Paul! Keep'em coming. Nobody's going to whine. I bet even Fabian is enjoying a little girlfriend boyfriend drama. How bout Fabian? You stealing anyone's girl over there?

Pow, forget about hijacking.. We're all having a good time here. I'm just waiting for the day to be over. Thanks guys..

Sad story... can she climb with some other girl so that douchebag won't be so damn insecure. He's just jealous of your good grip, I guarantee it.

By all means go off topic if you want

Yeah go wild. Of course I get all them climbing girls showing off my ultra grip.
Keep the thread going. I have already deciding what to go with and I certain of that before I started this. I were mostly wondering what vets would bring for granite.

In my opinion, she doesn't deserve to have a partner. He doesn't deserve to have her. She's always got an excuse for not going climbing with me. She never inquires as to whether I'm going climbing or not. I ask her. She always says "I would've loved to if...". I can never find anyone that's interested in going. It was just a one session thing with her. She's got issues. She's not honest with herself. She has yet to outgrow the whole "I drank 26 shots for my 20th birthday (recently), and I'm proud of myself!"

Y'all into this story after I've progressed this far? We're missing the camp fire and S'mores!

Update (interesting/strange): My olfactory sense picked up a hint of popcorn. I'm alone in my barracks room. It made me want some buttered popcorn! I knew I had, maybe, a couple of sealed unpopped bags in my kitchen. I open the cabinet, and find the beautiful lil bag of popcorn that's but 2 minutes away from getting popped and satisfying my weird, impulsive, craving! Keep the stories going! No judgement, here! My frustration for people that are ignorant of the joys of rock climbing are built up, and I need some camaraderie and support!

I've been buying used, cheap trad gear off this forum and hitting up the clearance/discount sales on gear websites! I couldn't tell you the sizes and brands that I have. I just fill in the empty spaces on my rack to be prepared with as many different sizes as I can! At least doubles of every size, no need for MORE THAN triples.

New gear in the US is about the same price as used ones in Norway so... I will buy new gear mostly.

Keep going. She is really insecure about herself it seems. Give her some slack and carry on. Do you have someone to glimb with or?..Keep em coming

By all means! Do it up! Perhaps, when I begin leading pitch after pitch with, solely, trad gear, and they save my A$$ a few times, I'll invest my money and confidence in the shiny-new, fresh-from-the-factory-integrity pieces! I've been supported in a decent whipper by a cam that was backed up by a bolt, and was blown away by my placement and the ability of the hardware!

I don't have any 1 person that has my climbing style dialed in and can belay me without me having to worry about the gear. One of my more regular partners doesn't feel comfortable exceeding the first pitch on a multipitch sport route. His excuse is that he's not ready and he's not equipped , but, he can jumar and clean! There are more pitches up off the ground! It's not all at the base of the wall! It's a lot of different people, different work schedules, some live a good hour away, at least. Most of them worry about over-doing the slack when I go to clip, and they short rope me (for example). Another example is that I go to clip rather quickly on a sport route, and they don't know how to work the GriGri, where you keep the camming action open with one hand and feed slack with the other, so I'm getting pumped out on one hand and vigorously pulling up on the rope to get the point across to them without being a vocal dick.

It's frustrating for me. So much climbing here, in Sicily, and the urge to climb builds up. It shouldn't be that way! lol So wrong!

Yeah the idea of falling on some clunky aluminum piece you trusted your own flesh and blood to place is kinda scary in the beginning.

Yay. I got 0.3 to 0.5 in x4 amd 0.75 to 4 in c4. 2 sets of wallnuts and 1 set of offsets. All 7 wc rockcentrics. No tricams! Anyways this is probs enough for now.
Got to remember i have to carry it all up. Do you think i got to few cams?

Yeah, I would go with a double set, I mean, it sounds like you have the ability to, definitely would do it.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
