Hello all. I am a junior student and taking a professorial English writing class. I am going to write an instruction manual of rock climbing for my final project. The goal of this survey is to help me to gather some basic information on rocking climbing, so I will analyze what the climbers need and then the necessary information into the instruction manual I am going to write. The instruction manual will be focus on top rope climbing at climbing wall and bouldering.

What's in it for us? What would be our motivation to spend time on your class project? It's not like this info doesn't exist in spades on the net.

I took it because I'm killing time at work, but in all professional endeavors remember the acronym WIIFM (what's in it for me)

Give the kid a break. He said he was taking an English (Engrish?) writing class. My Chinese sucks, and if I wrote something like that in Cantonese, I'd be stoked. Context is king.

The survey literally took less than a minute to complete.

KenHui, don't forget a disclaimer of sorts! I would also mention that it's not a comprehensive guide, and that techniques are best taught in person (with an instructor, trusted friend, etc.). Not that this is a manual people will follow when beginning (though they may), but last thing we want is somebody getting hurt.

Good luck.

Sounds a lot like Aleks!

Jake, when did you get elevated to the lofty position of "administrator"? Don't forget all us little people on your meteoric rise to the top!

I appreciated that the survey allows you to top out your bouldering grades at V7, at which point I assume it is expected that one will stop practicing and get on rope.

Crab…..been drooling over your Castle Rock Spire / East Face trip report over on the Taco lately and probably going to hit you up for beta sometime soon. I think I even had a recent dream that I was aid-soloing your route. Lol.

Ya know, of the variety of perfectly fine answers, one could include "The sense of satisfaction of helping out a student learning English". That you guys saw it as a negative question just might say something about your world view and negativity.

Yeah, you're totally right Marc, gotta help the internet bashers, instead of question it. Carry on & climb on!
