Elephant's Perch in May

I know the Sawtooth's aren't usually good to go until later but I live in Salt Lake City and our winter was pretty much non existent so I'm wondering if the same phenomenon occurred over there. Anyone with condition or snowpack beta would be much appreciated. We're shooting for the first week of May if possible.

You could try the folks at Sawtooth Mountain Guides, I'm sure they would have some idea of the conditions. If not them then maybe the Elephants Perch gear shop in Ketchum.

You should probably be good to go by May for the Perch. Crossing Redfish Lake Creek could be interesting, and there might be a bit of snow on the approach and descent but it should be doable.

Yes, we are around 50% of normal snowpack and the Perch will be good to go early. Boat access across Redfish does not usually start before Memorial Day, however.

I have a few questions to tag onto this thread if I can...

Bear canisters or other wildlife precautions?
Campfires allowed near the lakes under EP?
Best route up the wall? Fine Line vs Beckeys vs Myopia?

found dead creatures in the lake before, not sure why?...to reach the inlet to the upper one is a hike...best place to collect easy is the inlet from the upper to the lower...I almost never treat water, in Canada it is mostly glacier fed, but I don't even treat snow melt at Red Rock...that being said....I treat my water at Elephant Perch

No campfires are allowed (or recommended) around the pristine Saddleback lakes. Bears are not unheard of, but are generally not as problematic as the chipmunks. And yes, most folks treat the water (though it's probably fine imo)
Best route? If you can only do one, I'd go with Myopia, Becky Original or Becky Direct. The Mountaineers is a great moderate, and perhaps more demanding than the name suggests.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
