Thunder Ridge Access

I just wanted to provide a reminder on how to access Thunder Ridge. Where Nine J road ends at the gated road you park off to the left. NEVER drive down the gated road as this is private property. Access is extremely sensitive. Refer to the area page for details:

I bring this up because on my walk out I ran into the landowner who was just driving back after having to escort some climbers out who drove down the road and tried parking where the trail begins. She was not too happy about the situation...these climbers argued with her that it was a county road. It's not and there are signs every where stating it's private party.

The landowners are super nice and open to climbers accessing this area via their road as long as we follow these simple rules. Doing differently threatens access to this amazing area. Please don't F it up.

We were walking out when this happened.

We were hiking, got off the road to let cars by, when he stopped and tried to bad mouth her to us. This was all very confusing to us at first. But once we figured it out we backed her up.

It's actually not clear the guy who fought with her (white Toyota, by himself with his dog) was a climber. He didn't stop at the climber parking area. He kept on going: we passed him at a pull-off on the way out, and then he drove to West Creek behind us.

She gave us a ride to our car. She was pretty cool with us.

Point still stands.

Definitely don't F things up there. Such a sweet place. If you can't walk there because its too far, go to shelf.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
