Food banks for climbers only. (Not charity)

Starting small non perishable food banks for climbers only at the local gear shops may be a good idea. Climbers may volunteer their services(clean up and such) at the shops to get foods in a pinch. Non perishable items to be donated by well to do climbers or just some of us who have a little bit extra stuff. Eventually to have an app to plot them on a map of climbing towns.

Umm.. What? Spell it out for me please. You're thinking of starting a place where climbers could go eat food that other climbers donate?

if they are in a gear shop, they are most likely looking for gear, and can probably afford to buy their own food. dont get me wrong, i like the idea of helping people who cant afford a meal, but i actually want to help the people who cant afford a meal...

"Non perishable items to be donated by well to do climbers"

I'm not sure weekend warriors who hold down a job should be donating to prop up able-bodied young people with an expensive hobby.

They would offer services to whom? The shop? In that case the shop should buy the food. If you mean cleaning the crag we should all be doing that anyway.

We just threw away a bunch of food (cans, peanut butter and other non perishable stuff for those who don't know what it is). I don't condone homeless bums because of them being enabled by the system to feed the addictions and symptom manage mental illness instead of going to the root of it. Although I don't see climbers as bums, not the same way. I absolutely hate wasting food and though this idea could benefit some people.

Moldy cans of food that were initially placed on the garbage should be returned there.

Are there no food banks near Bellingham or does affluenza run rampant there?

Homeless shelters need donations more than people who choose to live out of their van.

Nope I will not condone homelessness because of addiction or mental illness. In the garbage it goes! What they need more than food is government funded halfway homes, employment training and placements and rehab programs.

I will not feed them do they buy booz and dope with their money then I treat their withdrawals and od's.

Troll. Opened the account a few days ago to post a ridiculous suggestion.

Deleted my post here to not give the psychopathic serial troll the attention she seeks.

Wow, a thread where I'm the first to spot the Ellenor. Is there a prize?

Em Cos for the win. However, the prize is at the food bank and I recommend you decline.

Ah, I thought the hard times in the vansion comment was referring to the poor destitute climbers who supposedly need a food bank. Ah well, carry on.

Hoping there's only one vansion (complete with faux rock interior.)

But if Ryan is starting to "hike" with other women while Elena straightens out her immigration problems (an 8 hour plane ride away from Bellingham? Like where is that? Central Assmanistan?) then the fate of the vansion is in peril.

Actually Mark E Dixon gets credit for sniffing out the troll.

It's a weird hobby to be a troll.

Even weirder to be so bad at it after so long a time.

Perhaps someday she can fill the giant hole in her soul with something better.

I hear homeless drug addiction is a pretty cushy gig.

So what you're saying is you have to get rid of us first?

Hmm, well I'd go to Borneo.

Jake, Frank, let's get that grant proposal going. Anybody else want to come?

On hiking with other women it's a no. For an involved woman on climbing with other men due to slim pickings it's a yes. Although if my boyfriend had objections I would go solo tr. In my opinion you got to have trust in a relationship and consider it beneath to worry about things that would be unavoidable. There is a saying "if it can be taken it was never yours to begin with"...or something like that.

Haters, whatever! I'm just trying to help fellow climbing bums.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
