I'm trying to decide if I should schedule a 1 week trip to Wild Iris during the festival or the week before the festival. Can anyone tell me how much more crowded the classic 11s and 12s will be during the Int'l Climber's Fest than the week before? Having only a week I'd like to not wait in line at all for the classics.

The climbers festival draws a big crowd. For Lander. There will be a few busy days with clinics and stuff at the Iris and checking out the festival website or facebook can help plan to avoid people. That being said if you keep away from the main wall and ok corral you will see a few people but it will feel deserted compared to more popular locales. The festival is fun and you can cherry pick the events that seem interesting to you. I always enjoy the keynote speakers. I would say if you want to avoid crowds head to ten sleep canyon, but it will still be busier there than the Iris. Sinks Canyon in the evenings (and in the shade) will be just locals for the most part durning the festival. The week before will be way less crowded. Way less.

The climber's festival is a great week to go to tensleep ;) If you're set on Wild Iris, I'd aim to get there before the fest, especially if you want a camp spot.
