Hello!

I saw this Kong Panic, and it intrigued me in wondering if this can be done using an existing draw and some hardware from Home Depot.

Anyone ever try to make one of these things? It looks like a great idea.

Great idea!

Any ideas on what would be best for the 'tubing' piece?

^^^ I remember reading it somewhere that the Mad Rock Triggerwires were not designed to use on the bolt end though...

I used to use a "stiffy" draw made out of a regular spirit QuickDraw with clear vinyl tubing over the dogbone. It worked pretty well, but I stopped using it when I realized that it's almost always better to just keep climbing until you can reach the clip easily.

Just get your taller/stronger climbing partner to hang the draws for you!

when u get to a more comfortable spot after clipping the stiffy ... make sure you put a second opposed draw as well ...

Stiffy long clip draw

very useful for those bolt ladders ...

The best one I had was made out of the stiff plastic tubing that bicycle spokes ship in (Mavic uses a plastic tube, DT swiss uses a cardboard box).

The one I have now is just a piece of plastic a sling and a load of duct tape.

I'm a foot taller than my ropegun, so usually I end up leading first and we leave the stiffy, also referred to as a ladies helper, on the ground.

I'll say. I so could have used one, on the pitch leading to the Split Pillar. I got home and promptly made one for my next trip to Squamish.

If in a bind, just tape a stick to the spine of both biners.
