I want shorts like the Arc'teryx Palisade, but I ran out of kidneys to sell

So my favorite shorts are the arc'teryx palisade, see here arcteryx.com/Product.aspx?l…

So they are awesome but they cost $100. I can get it down to $73 if I shop savvy but it's still too expensive.

Anyone know of similar shorts that have the features of being extremely lightweight, stretchy, breathable? Also, at least one zip pocket is a plus and also the built in belt is a plus.

I think you'll find they all run pretty steep in price

I own a few pairs of Prana Stretch Zion shorts and a pair of Mountain Hardwear Piero shorts. I have been impressed with both. The Piero feel thicker and more durable, but both breathe well and are stretchy. I believe they both have a zip pocket, but I could certainly be wrong. The Prana shorts have a built in belt, the MH do not.

I was able to find good deals on them here/ebay/sales but still paid $40-ish a pair for new and slightly less for used.

I have a pair of Zoic mountain bike shorts that have removable padding. They are super comfy. Look at loose biking shorts with a removable liner. I got these for around $55 at REI a few years ago and they will be great for several more with hard use.

First ascent guide shorts

Can't remember the name, but also some mountain hardwear shorts I have fit the bill, I liked the FA ones better though

First ascent guide short for sure. I sold my palisade pants and shorts because the first ascent are better, more durable and have eddie Bauers warranty.

I can fit a can of bear spray and a .44 magnum in each cargo pocket respectively.-without fear of the material being trashed. Also, they are svelte enough to run in when I want to. I have used these exclusively for two summers and won't buy prAna Zion's or palisades again. In comparison, the Zion's a a bit thinner but "pill" so much easier. I'd compare the first ascent short almost to an arc'teryx gamma lt pant material but not as technical.

Tennis shorts are the go.

Unfortunately you won't find any with laminated zippers, which may be a deal breaker..

Get those! Forget the kidneys! Collect plastic and aluminum from all the approach trails and crag bases and you'll have them soon enough.

The north face apex washoe shorts are exactly what you are discribing, I accually own both the arcteryx and TNF shorts and prefer the TNF becouse it's got a much more stretchier fabric, same tan color, TNF has 2hand pocket, 1 back, and a big side zippered pocket..... Hope it helps bro
