New to climbing

Hey! So I live in the Piedmont Triad area and I'm new to climbing. I'm a transplant to North Carolina so I don't know a ton of people just yet either, which doesn't help my new obsession of wanting to climb. I'm looking for anyone who wouldn't mind taking out a fairly new guy who doesn't have a lot of equipment and letting me get some experience with you. I have climbed about a dozen or so times in a gym and once outside (the amphitheater at Pilot Mtn) and want to start getting out on a fairly consistent basis.

Please let me know if any of you would be willing to let me tag along and learn more about the sport!

Billy,

Someone may well give you a shot from this post, but if not, don't get discouraged. Cozy up with some people at the gym. Bouldering in the gym can be a great way to do this. Be friendly and receptive to beta and tips on technique. Basically, make some friends. Friends are much more likely to take you out or mentor you than strangers are. Some newbies get lucky and find a mentor quickly, but I think making friends is a good approach for everyone.

Hit me up if you ever come to the New River Gorge.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
