Pretty fine, most things are climbable, but you may not be able to top everything out. I was out in Blackjack yesterday and most things are dry, the pound is the same way.

There is always climbable rock in Rumney, the mud shouldn't be a problem.

If you're still looking for a partner I'd be willing to climb as soon as possible. Been climbing for three years and I know the area. Right now I'm climbing 5.9-10b

For anyone who has been to Rumney lately, do you think it would be a good idea to bring a couple of my friends who have only climbed outside once to Main Cliff this Sunday? If not, can someone suggest a different beginner-friendly crag that's dry and gets a lot of sunlight?

It rained today but is supposed to be dry over the next couple of days. Id say main cliff will be done by Sunday though.

Edit: Changed the name of the thread based on my experience at 5.8 crag today, this is the place for conditions updates.

Is anyone up to climb friday? looking to jump on some sport routes around 5.10 to 11- or easier, but have no problem belaying you on harder stuff. The forecast doesn't look amazing but it looks warm and the chance of rain keeps going down so I figure it may be worth a shot. Let me know!

Rattlesnake's routes are at normal spring conditions, approach trails are pack or totally melted - everything was dry that we wanted to climb and the normal runoffs were flowing like venus, waimea, curly, skunks. Have fun this season ~

A lot of ice was coming down from the areas located under Orange Crush and Below New Wave on Sunday. Be careful as you move between crags and don't spend too much time hanging out below the ice! The Ice Maker at Orange Crush looked pretty solid though and wasn't shaking anything off yet.

Main Wall was completely dry. Right side of Bonsai is pretty wet but you can manage Masterpiece and Centerpiece if you can handle some wet holds. Lower Orange Crush is basically a waterfall, New Wave is 50/50. The shortcut trail from the secondary parking lot was hidden beneath a layer of snow and leaves on Sunday and really difficult to follow.

Anyone free tomorrow (Wednesday) and want to climb around Main Cliff/A&D?

Hey, I know it's supposed to rain some Friday and Saturday, but some friends and I are coming up Fri-Sunday and will be looking to get on everything from 5.9-12. What crags have the best chance of being dry? I was thinking maybe Waimea and Bonsai - not sure what else - recommendations?

Right end of Waimeia is soaking.

As of today, bonsai looks stellar. Waimea is dry for most of the uber classic routes, though the left end of the wall is a river. Main cliff is totally dry, as are much of the lower crags. Jimmy cliff is also totally dry. Vader is dry, upper vader might be dry. Most things at rumney are pretty dry right now. If it rains, maybe not so much, but you can always guarantee there will be a good amount of 5.9 - 5.12 on main cliff that will be totally dry even after it rains.

Anyone have any idea how the boulders in black jack are looking?

Eli Buzzell · · noco · Joined Nov 2010 · Points: 5,506

Is Butt Bongo drying out at all? Was soaked on Monday.

I found a Nalgene bottle below 5.8 crag today - if you can describe it I'll get it back to you.

BTW Butt Bongo looked dry Sunday but I didn't get on

Eli Buzzell · · noco · Joined Nov 2010 · Points: 5,506

Things I found yesterday:
- A Locker at the base of an ice-climb between orange crush and main cliff right
- a Green beanie at kennel wall
- a digital wrist watch at upper vader

Still on the list:
- Nalgene from 5.8 crag

If you were the owner of any of these items just let me know here by describing specifics about them. I'll get the stuff back to you.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
