I spoke with a ranger on Tuesday. He said due to all of the rain and snow, the road is in bad shape and they do not know when they will open the gate... not very encouraging.

Was considering this route tomorrow and wondered how it was? Did you check it out? Is it passable?
I made it up that way... however, I could not find a trail, so it was a long, wet, bushwhack. I would recommend riding a mountain bike up the road from the gate, not sure if this is frowned upon, but I had some friends do it the other day and they said it took a little over an hour from the car to the base of the rock. Either way, have fun!

As of Sat. the road is open and is in good shape. Side note, Last two times I was parking at the Nose area/Sun Wall trail multiple parties have been seen hiking in on a trail that leaves the parking lot to the right of the right most kiosk. Thats not the trail to the Sun Wall. The actual trail is just off the right side of the road at the front of the right side parking area. Its marked by a brown FS sign stating Sun Wall. For first time visitors take a second look before leaving the parking area. You will save yourself an epic bushwhack.
