Drive more, work with assholes. Unfortunately, the US wages are stagnant for a few reasons. People can't afford to leave their benefits (cobra is freakin expensive, so you better be getting a big raise and quick benefits if you have a family), they are stuck in their mortgages (selling a house isn't always quick, easy and profitable), and fear of losing stability. Most Americans work to pay off a car they use to drive to a job that keeps them from enjoying the house they are paying off. Some people realize that impacts your free time and enjoyment of life and choose to make a little less at a job they like with flexibility they want. Andrewww seems like that sort of guy. Kudos to him.Maybe you missed the post where Andrew writes the words " I could have said it better". Sorry I left you hanging about today. Im in Baltimore. I had to get back to sitting around all day doing nothing making big money. Maybe we could meet sometime this summer or next winter. I'll show you a couple routes that will blow your mind... Just don't write about them on here. |

You are not intimidated to put your cards on the table and not wishy washy scumbag like most of them. Keep doing the good deeds to those who work for you and never ever forget your proletariat roots. Remember you cannot keep it unless you give it away. One day at a time. And get them some kind of health coverage for God's sake. That shit is brutal on your system.President of the US? I hate oweing people favors . You would be surprised at how guys don't wanna pay half or even 25% of their health insurance. Before the Obama drama the younger guys saw no value in insurance. Some asked if they could get a raise instead. Single payer system would have been better than the half ass compromise we got now. That shit is brutal. I had back surgery two years ago. The doctor said the injury wasn't from Mtb crashes but from being a laborer. |

I think the Dems have to work towards that with the idea that single payer gets the whole insurance issue out of being an employers problem. Widget makers should stick to their specialty, not worrying about dealing with health insurance. Conservatives should be able to get behind that idea. As it is now the system is absurdly complicated and opaque (of course that makes it easier for people to suck more money out of consumers) |

Politics. Most of the right's early talking points in opposition to universal coverage came directly from the health care industry. If you can track it down, find a Bill Moyers interview with Wendell Potter, a former health insurance insider, who leaked a lot of policy information after leaving the industry. Very telling stuff. |

I don't think this thread is going the way the OP expected. |

I wanna know where r+r stands. Completely unregulated free market, or communism? It must be one or the other! Tell us! |

Just wondering if anyone knows the best way to get in touch with R&R, I always prefer to call but for the life of me I can't find their phone number, any ideas? |

For a rubber glue sniffing teenager with foot fetish the offered position would be a good find even for a below minimal wage. This is appropriate site to advertise though. Good move. |

It then became expected. |

This post is a great example of why MP forums are what they are. |

Heard minimum wage is going to be increased to 12 an hour. Maybe then employers wouldn't take advantage of young kids who are just trying to earn a living like the rest of us. An employer offering 10-15 hours a week is just looking out for there best interest so that they won't have to offer benefits. Pretty bummed to see the original post..won't be sending my 5 pairs that need work to r&r. Heard there is a better resole place in Denver..anyone know how to contact them? I made more money than they're offering by mowing lawns as a kid. So eat a bag of decks rock resole |

Did you look in some crystal ball and find the answer as to why or why not they only need someone for 10 to 15 hours a week? Certainly it is because they don't want to give out benefits.... Maybe just going out on a limb here they want that kind of help because that's all a kid in highschool can really expect to work before they close? That was certainly the case at the dry cleaning place that I worked in highschool that closed at 7pm. |

M Sprague wrote: They got tangled originally when businesses offered health insurance as a benefit to attract workers. It then became expected.Incorrect answer. It was baited by tax incentive. Otherwise the employer would simply offer more salary and you'd choose your own insurance. |
