Mt Whitney Mountaineers Route
|
Interested in heading up the mountaineers route in the near future. I am fit and an experienced climber. I spent a bunch of time up in AK and climbed Denali while I was up there. I'd like to head up with someone that knows the route. Let me know if you are down. Cheers |

I was just up it about 1 week ago, clean and nice conditions although it's turning into a scree pile as the snow wears down and weather heats up. I'd recommend going asap or at least before the lottery permits start. Good luck! |

Right on, thanks for the info!! |

I soloed the Mountaineers Route 2 years ago, bring axe and crampons. I completed in one day following the standard route for descent. If you can't find a partner just go for it! The last 400 feet is epic! Message me if you need any beta |

I'll second that suggestion: no partner needed. Plus it is unlikely that you would be there alone anyways... |

has anyone laid eyes on the east buttress in the past week or two? |
|
If you are still looking for someone to go with, I've been wanting to also try a late winter mountaineer's route. I've climbed both the Tetons and Mt. Rainier in the past 8 months. Have done some other glaciers in the past. Ready when you are. |

Anybody been up there since the snow last week? Would love to run a lap as long as I'm not postholing the whole way up. Not sure how much Whitney zone was hit but some of the Sierra got 2 feet of much needed snow. |

conditions are great, good snow on the lower col. dry at the notch. the upper gully is in with the exception of the staircase rock band at the bottom. |
