Interested in heading up the mountaineers route in the near future. I am fit and an experienced climber. I spent a bunch of time up in AK and climbed Denali while I was up there. I'd like to head up with someone that knows the route. Let me know if you are down. Cheers

I was just up it about 1 week ago, clean and nice conditions although it's turning into a scree pile as the snow wears down and weather heats up. I'd recommend going asap or at least before the lottery permits start. Good luck!

Mark,
Check out whitneyportalstore.com for a partner. More Whitney Mountaineers frequent that site. My good friend Patrick did it just last week he said conditions were great.

I soloed the Mountaineers Route 2 years ago, bring axe and crampons. I completed in one day following the standard route for descent. If you can't find a partner just go for it! The last 400 feet is epic! Message me if you need any beta

I'll second that suggestion: no partner needed. Plus it is unlikely that you would be there alone anyways...

has anyone laid eyes on the east buttress in the past week or two?

If you are still looking for someone to go with, I've been wanting to also try a late winter mountaineer's route. I've climbed both the Tetons and Mt. Rainier in the past 8 months. Have done some other glaciers in the past. Ready when you are.

Anybody been up there since the snow last week? Would love to run a lap as long as I'm not postholing the whole way up. Not sure how much Whitney zone was hit but some of the Sierra got 2 feet of much needed snow.

conditions are great, good snow on the lower col. dry at the notch. the upper gully is in with the exception of the staircase rock band at the bottom.

boots all the way to iceberg. first snowfield at lower boyscout, but it's pretty tracked out.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
