Anyone have a good idea as to whether the Upper Pines CG would have room if you got there this Friday around 7pm?

I normally don't go to the valley this early in the season so I'm not sue of the load in the CG.

Side note, anyone have a site they would like to share with 2 people? I'll cover the fee and bring all the firewood.

Thanks, Randy

In past years, I'd say you have a pretty good chance. I never had a problem finding a site on a weekend outside of the reservation period...until this year. This year, I've had two weekend visits where UP was full and I've had to resort to asking around for a place to park my van.

ps this is the last weekend before the reservation period begins in UP.

Thank you for the insight.

Maybe someone who reads this has a site and wants free beer and firewood!

We were just there last weekend and were able to claim a site pretty easily at 5p on Friday. It did fill up in the night-time hours (all the 9-5'ers coming in after work). Most people get in between 11 and midnight.

7p, I would say you've got a good chance of snagging a site. As csproul said, this weekend (3/21-22) is the last weekend where upper pines is walk-in only, so no one will have reservations.

If you do grab a site, I would highly recommend you get yourself registered in the morning. I heard the rangers in the office talking about confiscating people's belongings if they hadn't registered by 10a.

They're not reservable right now at all, so most likely, anyone reading this is not at UPCG (unless they get a much better cellular signal than I do).

All sites were full by 1:30pm. We were able to convince a couple to let us join their site.

Camp4 is the way to go before the season start with reservation.
Was also completely full this Week End though, but at least there is noone that will block you from setting up your tent in a site.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
