Reno/Tahoe Suggestions

I have to take a last minute trip to Reno this weekend. I have never been climbing in the region, but I was hoping to spend a couple of days climbing when my business is concluded.

Can anyone suggest crags that would be snow free, single pitch, and dog friendly?

Phantom spires. Sugarloaf. Woodfords. Maybe even Donner with the temps we have had.

Don't waste your tine at Dinosaur or River Rock...since you are coming from Fresno (driving I assume), climbing at Sugarloaf, Phantom Spires, or Woodfords Canyon is your best bet. A drive a bit further North to cross the Sierra at I-80 would take you right past Donner Summit. Really hard to drive past Donnaire and not climb. Any of the above and you will leave with a smile on your face.

Everything at Donner, minus maybe Snowshed, is dry and completely climbable.

Thanks guys! I'll checkout Donner

I wouldn't say Donner is super dog friendly. Black Wall can have mucho talus hopping and cliff drops for the unwary pooch, though the right side of the crag meets your asks for single pitch. Grouse Slabs would probably be the best area to bring the hound.

For dog friendly areas that are relatively easy to figure out, I'd recommend Sugarloaf or Phantom Spires.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
