Entry level bouldering near aurora or denver?

greetings, all! I've thumbed through a few of the pages here, but wanted to see if anyone had any other recommended areas.

I was sending v3's and 4's pretty regularly back in my prime, but haven't even touched real (or plastic) rock for about 3 years. I'm cranking out the psysical conditioning at a nearby gym, and am thinking having a project or area in mind may make it a little less boring.

I've read about three sisters (?) closer to Boulder (?) on here and will check it out. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Morrison. It leaves a lot to be desired atmosphere wise (Mt. Evans it ain't!), but there's a good variety.

North Turkey Creek was not a world class area, but it did have a lot of entry-level bouldering. Bummer it was closed years ago.

So Morrison! Or maybe Castlewood Canyon? I'm not much of a boulderer any more.

You should check out Carter Lake. Lots of nice and mellow problems there.

What about flagstaff?

In terms of proximity to especially Aurora, the Boulder bouldering (e.g. Flagstaff) is a hell of a trek for what it is. Carter Lake and Horsetooth are certainly higher quality than Morrison, but far enough away to be a little excessive.
When I lived in south Denver, I dreaded going to the Boulder crags because it was always an expedition to get over there.

Morrison is just ok. It has plenty of problems, but they often have strange rules, and the beta can be nearly impossible to work out on your own. As far as inspiring lines, the south side is much better. Beshears crack 2 and some of the other climbs on that block are awesome. There are several other blocks up there that are great.

In general, the bouldering in evergreen (3 sisters) is more inspiring (for me, at least) than Morrison. Lots of freestanding boulders, and some pretty inspiring lines. Check out Guiding Light and the surrounding problems. Also check out the best boulder problem in evergreen (pretty highball, but a completely incredible line)

For moderate problems at Morrison, go up the hill to the north. There are several faces that are "only" vertical, and a multitude of options to explore.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
